Submissions
What we are looking for
We welcome new submissions for creative representation and the opportunity to review your work. You’ll need to pitch your work to us, usually in the form of a query letter via email. We consider everything that is sent to us and are currently focused on the following.
- Literary fiction, including short stories
- Academic non-fiction, especially in the arts, humanities and social sciences
- Visual arts, including painting, photography, drawing, graphic illustration, installation, sculpture and design
- Performing arts, including contemporary music, dance and drama
- Festival collaborations
How to send us your work
We’d like to hear a one-line elevator pitch at the beginning of your query letter, the target market and genre of your output, and a short biographical note highlighting your creative journey. And tell us your reasons for seeking representation. In the subject line of your email include the title of your submission. Please also send us:
Fiction
The first thirty pages of your manuscript and a one-page synopsis
Non-Fiction
Your complete book proposal document and two sample chapters
Visual Arts
Samples of your portfolio of work as photographs or other media files, and an artist’s statement
Performing Arts
Samples of your performing art as media files and photographs, and an artist’s statement
Festivals
A statement of your festival’s ethos and programming priorities
We only accept submissions sent via email as a Word document or PDF, clearly laid out and readable. We cannot accept Pages documents, Google documents or WeTransfer and Dropbox downloads. We do not accept postal submissions – any material submitted in this way will not be considered and will be recycled.
Our turnaround time
You should expect to hear from us within four weeks of receiving your work. If you haven’t heard from us after that time, please make sure you check your junk folders, then feel free to email us and follow up.
Sending detailed feedback
If we have decided not to offer representation on the basis of the material you’ve sent in, we will reply with a brief note. Unfortunately, we are unable to send detailed critiques. However, if we have asked you to send us your work in full, we’ll always try to give you some specific feedback.
By sending us your submission you agree to our Terms of Use and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.
